Tuesday 21st July 2026 marked a major milestone for IPD Group with the grand opening of our new Perth facility. The event attracted more than 100 customers—the largest turnout we’ve seen for an office opening—and showcased a purpose-built space designed to support our continued growth in Western Australia.
Spanning 5,000 square metres of warehouse and office space, the new facility is more than just a new address. For the first time, CMI Electrical, EX Engineering, and IPD are operating together from a single location, creating a collaborative hub that brings our WA teams, capabilities and customers closer together. The facility represents a new chapter for the business, strengthening collaboration across our brands while creating a central destination for customers and partners.
The event began with the ceremonial ribbon cutting led by IPD Group CEO Michael Sainsbury before guests were invited to tour the facility, including the EX Engineering workshop, CMI cable hub and IPD warehouse operations.
Reflecting on the journey to this point, Michael shared:
“If I go back 13 years ago when I joined IPD, we had this little hole in the wall over in Welshpool where we were all sort of huddled up.”
His words highlighted just how far the business has come. What was once a modest operation has evolved into a modern facility that supports the scale, capability and ambitions of IPD Group today.
Guests explored the new offices, training rooms and warehouse spaces, including a dedicated showroom and training centre where customers can experience IPD Group’s leading brands firsthand. The space also showcases solutions across key Australian industries, including mining, infrastructure, utilities and data centres, demonstrating how IPD Group supports critical sectors through its broad portfolio of products, engineering expertise and technical capabilities.Among those attending was Beau from Evotec, a former IPD employee who has since become a customer. Having seen the project take shape from its early stages, he reflected on what stood out most:
“The highlight is probably the way it’s all come together. We were here in the early stages of construction.”
When asked what he values most about working with IPD Group, his answer was simple:
“They’re great. I can just pick up the phone and get an answer on the spot.”
The opening was a tremendous success and a fitting celebration of the people who made it possible. Most importantly, it marked the beginning of a new chapter for our WA operations—bringing our businesses together under one roof, strengthening collaboration across the group, and creating a modern facility that is better equipped to support our customers, partners and continued growth into the future.
