The green-field project involved the development of an underground Longwall metallurgical coal mining operation designed to produce up to 5 million tonnes per annum. Anglo American'€™s Grosvenor project forms a major part of the Metallurgical Coal business unit'€™s strategy to triple its metallurgical coal production from its Australian assets by 2020 using a standard Longwall and coal handling preparation plant (CHPP) design model. CMI Electrical Products was successful in securing the supply for all Low Voltage Power and Control Cables, Instrumentation Cables , Fibre Optic Cables and Variable Speed Drive Cables for the (CHPP). Along with the supply of the cables the company chose the CMI "€œMinto"€ Quick release restrained plug and receptacle system to power all mobile machinery, Continuous Miners Shuttle Cars and the Longwall Miner due to the reliability of the equipment and the high IP68 rating the equipment provided.
